Which mic is better for rapping? Samson c10u or MXL v67? Most of the videos that I see in youtube, they use the samson c10u and it really sounds good, but a friend told me that USB mic's are just good for podcast, etc. but not for rapping or singing? On the MXL v67 side, a lot of people recommended this to me and they told me that this is what I need in recording rap music? so which mic should I get? thanks....

Yup! The V67G will record all things rap. It is the rappinest rap mic around! All rap sounds good through it! Other music, not so much. Rock vocals tank on it, especially female rock vocals, and male plus instruments. Country vocals sound horrible, both male and female, plus all the instruments...absolutely horrible. The funny thing about that mic...its only records rap. I'd have to say it is THE rap mic to have in your rap arsenal, because other mics just aren't capable of capturing rap music! It'll record the rap rap, as well as the rap plus excels at rapping. Try to record actual SOUND from another source and it seems like the mic either isn't ON, or it just leaves you feeling like "why did I buy this?..I bet it would record rap!".

AND its gold plated grill has that 'bling' effect, which is paramount (that means important) for capturing true rap goodness! Put on some 20" rims, and umo B rollin'!

The sounds it creates while recording rap might be too emotional for some, like the breathy aura that's created while recording "ho" or "bitch"! I've nearly wet myself with hearing how warm it sounds on phrases like "Imo be" and some other phonetic somethings or other! Not to mention the ground shaking sound and emotional response from classically laid out phrases like "uh", "das right" and "yeah"....those just bring a tear to my eye.

Such beauty!!:(

What douche bags.

If people on these forums would quit spreading the gear whore misinformation questions like these would probably quit arising.

Just go buy a mic. If you can test them first, great, otherwise just get the one that your gut feels is the best purchase at the moment. Learn to use it and then next time you will have a better understanding of what you are looking for.

Most all mics will work for most all applications, it just depends if you yourself like the results. But in general, avoid USB if you ever think you will be upgrading equipment as that will really limit its future use.
