need some educated info!

hello, and welcome to my first post

i own a roland vs-840gx digital 8 track, but i do not use it whatsoever because i hate having to send the tracks to the computer to edit. i want to get into a totally computer based system, and get away from 'workstations'

i would like something pci based, with 4 inputs that can be used simultaneously to record on 4 seperate tracks.

what is my best bet? budget is around 300 us dollars.

I assume you are referring to a sound card?

The Delta 44 should meet all your requirements. 4 in X 4 out. 24 bit, 96KHz.

No MIDI in/out, however, should you have a need for that, and no pre-amps.
