Does anybody know if any stand-alone digital recorders (that aren't 24-tracks or larger) exist that support at least 96kHz 24-Bit sampling rates? If so, what are they?

Thanks in advance

The Alesis HD24 supports 24/96... it IS a 24 track recorder, but it will only record 12 tracks of 24/96, soo.....

AKAI...

The Akai DPS16 has a fairly simple learning curve (and good manual) and tons of virtual tracks (about 256). Aside from the suspect built in mic pre-amps, it is a pretty good "all-in-one" bang for the buck. There is a vast array of onboard effects including a multiband compressor to be used on Stereo mixdown. It offers a 20 GB harddrive and number of other features...I would definitely say check it out at Akai.com.

Most recorders that do 96khz do it at half the track count so you need a 24 track machine to get 12, 96khz tracks. Radar 24 Nyquist if you want the best.

The Korg D16XD. The thing ROCKS! Seriously. I have been using a D1600 for about a year and a half and just recently upgraded. It is both simple to use and VERY intuitive. The effects are outstanding and it also has some features that not available on the D1600 (the 24bit/96k for one).

For instance, you can bypass the preamps (that, by the way, aren't too bad on their own). There is also built in analog compressors. And TWO Aux outs!

Man...I'm lovin' life...

I got mine from Kraft Music (kraftmusic.com) . They will totally blow away anybodies price online. If you call them, ask for Ray (and tell him Harold sent you). Trust me. He's not afraid to "haggle". A very cool guy...

Hope this helps.

okay, for the big question.... did your "haggling" pay off?.... how much did you give for the Korg D16XD, if I may ask. I am thinking of purchasing one and after checking out many gear websites, best price I can find is about $2,000.00 USD.... everyone is offering it at that price.... must be a conspiracy! <g>
