I am working on a rough mix of a new song and would like to get some suggestions on how to improve it. I record using a Shure SM7B goin to a Line 6 Toneport Ux2 and I use Reaper. For bass I use Native Instruments Trilogy Bass and EZdrummer for drums. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The mix sounds pretty evenly balanced. I don't like the tone on the drums very much. The snare is pretty bright and bleedy. The string patch or whatever is really faint in the background. Either bring that up or do away with it. Some words dropped out, but I know this is just a test track.

Record the whole song and tune the snare to snap tighter and bring the string pad up.

Wig:)

Hi there, when the bass gets in the kick is completely lost, check the eq to fix that. The rest, to me, sounds very good... The drums have too much Room, maybe you like it that way, it doesn't sounds bad at all, but to me, is too much.

Cool Stuff, Keep Going... Sounds like "Sweet Home Alabama".

Very RHCP...sounds pretty good in my earbuds. Bass is a bit prominent for them though.

Thanks! Any advice on how to treat the vocals? Im recording using the SM7B straight to the UX2...
