I'm new to the computer. I can get music into the PC from a tape drive and back to tape. I want software that will allow me to manipulate the music to mix and edit it. I particurly want to be able to change the pitch or "key" of a song without changing the tempo or length. I would like to be able to lay down a track then come back later and add more, then mix it all down. I need a mixer and recorder. An incomplete software package from Voyetra came installed on my PC but it will not do all I want to. I want to purchase new software if I can find a package that will do it all. Any suggestions? Has anybody changed the pitch of a song? How well does it work?

go to www.edirol.com and click on products
then go to the one you want.Music software, all different kinds some have demos.
The only thing I know that you can change keys is for digital music not analog.

Well Steinberg just released a prog. called "Get-it-on-CD" which is actually a
tuned-down Wavelab but it does a very good job for thing you want; and you can add Dx-plugins if you want to expand your possibilities.
Another option which is cheaper is Cooledit;
I have no experience with this programm; but
it's the "Paint Shop Pro" under the audio-edit progs. (shareware).

Good luck. EternitY

I used to use a package called soundforge - you can change the pitch on that, I used to use it for basslines - as I dont own a bass guitar I used to record the bassline on my sixstring then drop the pitch down an octave - worked for me!
