Need reviews on soundcards

Hello all,

I am looking for any reviews you all might have regarding soundcards. I have an 8 channel board that I would like to hook up for 6-8 channels of simultaneous stereo recording but am having difficulty finding any card that allows more than 3 channels of stereo or 6 channels of mono recording. Secondly, I would like to know if they all are pretty much universal as I would like to use it for both Adobe Audition and Cakewalk. I have read once that internal soundcards pick up a lot of the computer noise and it is better to get an external one. Has anyone experienced this problem? Anyhow, any help or light anyone can shed on this would be greatly appreciated, Thank you. :)

Just for info, I don't have a price range limit regarding a soundcard so any reviews is wanted.
 
ive been researching soundcards for about a month now. there are so many out there to choose from. i have a budget, so my top choices are from Echo or Aardvark. If you can spend over a grand, I hear the Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU) interfaces are excellent. most of these, including the higher end Echo's and Aardvark's have shielded PCI cards, with breakout boxes, so noise isn't really a problem. I'm assuming you have a desktop PC (or MAC), so the links below will pretty much be for PCI cards. If USB, Firewire, or Laptop interfaces is what your looking for, the same sites below should have them, but in different sections.

If your looking for numerous ins/outs I would recommend the Echo Layla, Aardvark Q10, M-Audio Delta 1010, or any of the MOTU products.

Side Note: stay away from Sound Blaster products. They're designed more for DVD watching and games. Brands to check out are Echo, Aardvark, MOTU, M-Audio, RME, and LYNX, to name a few.

I own a pair of Aardvark Q10, and this system is expandable up to (4) units. This means 32 mic/line and 8 digital channels total.

The snobs can find better preamps, but not at the Q10 price point.

I like to have a Grace Design 801, but at $500 per channel, that is out of my league. Even then, I'd have to have A/D convertors, and would be still using it with my Q10.
