Can anyone refer me to any good websites which deal in reel to reel repairs? I am working on a newly aquirred teac 2300sx and am looking for any web info which can assist one in such a fun endeavor.
I scored the service manual from Tascam and it is very good as far as pc board layouts, etc.
It has a good troubleshooting section as well.
Thus far I have a fried cap on the rectifier pc board which I replaced, but it fried again. The manual has a different volt than the replaced cap, so I am going to try one with the manual voltage.
Unfortunately I think something is causing the cap to fry. The belt is extremely loose and the capstan will hardly turn because of this. I know the belt needs to replaced, but I doubt that would cause any caps to fry.
This deck is without question worth the time and money, but I dont want to start throwing money at the wrong thing.
The motors and everything works great. It has been sitting for twenty years.
Thanks,
clevo
