Hi again,

I currently use demo version of pro audio 9. I am planning to upgrade my whole setup and buy a registered CW.

Please check my explanations in thread "midi to wave mixdown in Pro audio9"

I am not planning /targeting for a major label recording but a few demo CD i can distribute to friends. I mainly use electric guitars and and add midi tracks here and there.

Can you simply note the differences of CW versions and which one suits me best. As i am in a small budget i don't want to shell extra money for features i won't use.

which version?

Right now, Sonar seems to be what's available from Cakewalk. You may only need the least expensive version which is still a major upgrade over ver. 9. You'll be pleased with the bells and whistles, and I'm sure you will find use for all the extra features in time.

Home Studio 2004 costs much less and does almost everything Sonar 2.x did.

Home Studio is light years ahead of PA9 with the new UI, ASIO driver support, DXi softsynths and ACID support.

HS2004 and Sonar comparisin

I stand corrected. You can't go wrong with either version.
