I've got Wharfedale 8.2's and a Zoom MRS-8 digital recorder. The recorder has two inputs for monitors, they are RCA. Would using two (2) mono female RCA cables to mono male 1/4" adapters (the Wharfedales fit normal instrument cables) work? I got that idea from another topic on here but I don't know if it would work in my situation. Any ideas?

Don't the Wharfdales have RCA connections as well? If so, just use those. If not, the 1/4-in adapters should work fine.

i got the most expensive cables i could for monitoring

but all my mic cables are crap
my pre's are worse
my mics are pretty bad too
um.........

sad part is, all of that's true

I'd get something shielded, but probably most consumer grade RCA cables are at this point.

Can someone go more in-depth about the exact RCA cables I need? My dad brought what I wrote down to the store and the guy didn't know what it was I wanted.

Ok we got a stereo cable and with it the monitors work but at a very low volume. Would getting a mono cable solve this? And is there any damage done since I used the stereo cable?

Should work ok. Do you have the gain turned up on the monitor amps?

The stereo cable should work ok? Cause it's not. We also got stereo to mono adapters, is there anything wrong with that?

Nevermind I figured out there's an input for RCA on the monitors. Now it's working great!
