need MR8 advice: using "song" files

I have a question for users of the product:
Do you use one "song" as an actual song? or do you use a "song" to record a specific part or section. For example, I might try to use a "song" to record a Chorus or a verse and then later combine all the 'songs' on my computer. The reason I would go about this is to get as many possible tracks (8 per 'section') as I can out of the real finished product. Has anyone tried doing this? advice?

BTW, by "song" I mean 'Menu > Song > Select Song'

I use it for the whole song. What you can do though to get more tracks is to record a "backbone" or beat track and then record a number of tracks in time with that beat track. You can then keep sending them to the PC and and mix them with something like n-tracks. I actually keep backing tracks up and passing them to and from the PC back to the MR-8 and mix them on the MR-8. To prove the point one day I put 17 tracks of guitar on the MR-8. Sounded awful though but it worked!
 
Wow, I might try doing that! Things on my memory card get cramed when I have "s1_chorus, s1_verse, etc" all lined up. Ill try your way for my next song!
 
That's how I do it to. Import track by track into pc software. I then mix down to a mono file a reference track that I send back to the mr8 for more overdubbing. This way you can record as many tracks as your software allows. I have a 256 card and have yet to run out of space using this method. The wav manager program-free from Fostex site- allows you to import/export tracks via usb. Audacity and Krystal are two mixing programs that are free that you can download.
