hi, all. i'm running Cubase on a PC right now, and all my I/O comes courtesy of an Event EZBus thru an EMU 1212.

but i want MORE and BETTER I/O!

should i add an 828 or something similar? or should i completely rethink this and go with something like a Ramsa DA7??

i'm at your mercy. help me.

thanks!

Well, you could upgrade your 1212 to an 1820 by buying an audiodock from emu.com That'd give you 6 more analog ins, two of them with preamps. Not bad, that.

Past that point, you're going to need a bigger thing altogether or something more modular. MOTU PCI-424, RME hammerfall based, M-audio Delta chaining, lots of stuff possible.

thanks for the ... uhhhh ... input? :)

i'm also considering a used 828 -- there are loads on my local Craigslist at the moment. but i also have a line on a DA-7 MKII at a good price, so that's looking esp. attractive.

too many options, i tells ye!!

If you've got the 1212. then I believe you have ADAT yes? Why not get an ADAT Preamp like the Focusrite OctoPre with the ADAT Card, or the Presonus Digimax LT. Both would probably be a step up, and you can get a better 2 channel preamp for the 2 analog ins on the 1212. Just a thought

Well, the Event EZBus has ADAT IO already, which is why I said think about upgrading to an 1820 by buying an audiodock. I mean, he knows the 1212M drivers work... plugging in a box that gives you more ins and outs without the hassle of changing sound cards and drivers is quite valuable.
