i have a small home studio. i have been monitoring everything with a really nice set of headphones and i want to get some good monitors. i have heard that mackie offers really nice monitors but they are a little out of my price range now. are there any others out there that a decent? i just need something for my own projects.

I got a pair of Roland monitors for about 100 bucks . I gotta check the box for the model number . They seem to do the trick for me.

I have a pair of Yorkville YSM-1s and I love 'em. List is $280 a pair but a friend of mine just picked up some for $210. Recording magazine did a blind taste test a few years back and these babys placed high in the ratings.

Yea. I really do like the sound of the YSM-1s, especially for the price. Though I favor the Yamaha MSP10s over the Mackie HR824s.

Here's a list in order of my preference:

Unpowered:
YSM-1s
Tannoy Reveal
Yamaha NS10ms (heavy high end)

Powered:
Yamaha MSP10s
Mackie HR824s
Roland DS90 - Sale at BHPHOTOVIDEO $600/pair!
Tannoy Reveal

I hear also that the Event monitors are killer.

Hope that this was helpful

I recently bought the Event 20/20's (unpowered) and am very impressed with the quality.

around $280 from zzounds or Musician's Friend
