need mixer help

i just a bought a new carvin mixer to help me with the pre-amp need.
since i've never used this can someone tell me what the "aux sends" and "returnes" are for? I have 6 auxualary sends and four sterio return.
I also bought a headphone amy (6 outs). can i assign idividual outs to this as well?

Aux send/returns can be used essentially for anything (monitoring during overdubs, headphone mixes, effects sends)

They're simply a mult of the signal which can be routed wherever you want...

In the case of an effect send and return - patch the send of aux 1 to the mono input of a reverb unit, take the L/R output of the reverb and patch it to the aux 1 L/R return. Then to add reverb to any channel simply use the aux 1 pot on that channel to taste....
