I'm looking to buy a small Stereo 4 - 8 channel mixer with at least (4) balanced XLR mic inputs, and phantom power, and a BALANCED STEREO OUTPUT. . . I'm going to use it to plug the drum kit mics into it,..then send the stereo plugs to a 4 track recorder. . . any suggestions on an inexpensive stereo mixer?

I have been looking at the -- Behringer UB1202 Eurorack 12 Input Mixer. . But, I thought you guys might have a better suggestion. . Thanks

has 8 XLR mic ins w/phantom, and balance outs (looks like it in the picture, anyway).

But it's more $ than the Eurorack.

Hey,

Couple of thoughts, first, you haven't given us a sense of budget... I'll assume its rock bottom?

If you're doing this for your drum kit, don't go with a 4 channel mixer, you're only going to want to upgrade it later, unless this is an absolute quick fix, and have no intention of ever getting more mics, experimenting with different techniques etc...

As for 8 channel mixers on rock bottom prices, why don't you try your hand at the old evil-bay for one of the older tascam mixers like an m-308 or maybe an older ramsa... I can tellyou right now the sound of the pres is going to be a lot sweeter than a new behringer.

Anyhow, just a thought in a different direction.

Cheers,

Rich

I just bought a UB1202 which worked well for my needs. However jazzrich9is probably right here. Considering a unit with more XLR inputs would be advised.

The UB1222FX-Pro or UB2442FX-PRO might be a better choice as they have more direct XLR input capability.
