Can anyone recommend a "cheap" (but decent quality), low latency computer interface for recording? I basically just need to record guitar and mic (not at the same time even). I'll use Reaper software but would like to have a decent software mixer if possible.

This is just a hobby so nothing professional. I just want to record my guitar (mic an amp) while listening to backing tracks. I'd prefer an external unit over a soundcard. I'm using vista 64 bit if that matters.

Thanks,
Rut

then as long as your USB is working well, a Line6 toneport GX from JRR Shop for 49 bucks will go a long way

Its got ASIO drivers and has been extensively tested in REAPER. A small step up is the UX-1 for 89 bucks...seems like theyre having some sort of deal on the Line6 stuff right now. They all share the same drivers. I have a KB37 (awesome unit) and a Toneport GX here. If you need more than 4 or so inputs or something, then you will likely want to move to something besides USB, such as PCI or FW

Inspire question

You aren't bound to the software that's included are you? Obviously, I'd assume that the "control panel" software is a must, but can you use the interface with other recording/sequencing programs?
