hi all

i am having trouble getting my recordings going. using ableton live lite 8 and a laptop with this whole dual core processor , and 4gb ram. i have the focusrite saffire 6 usb audio interface and when i record the vocals there is a glitch in the recordings, i have tried tweaking this and that and its still the same. i suspect it may have something to do with settings on my laptop coz when i tried using an m-audio interface i got the same problem. just ready to give up at this point as the past weeks i have hardly slept trying a few options. one thing i have also noticed is that the reordings are in mono and there is a line that just goes across with nothing on it. i also notice that the vocals recorded appearing a second or so behind the cursor at the top showing the time. anyone with any suggestions i will be grateful .. thanks

the thing is that you are trying to record mono source to stereo track. helping picture here:

1) switch to arrangement view
2) make sure you have IO button turned on
3) select your input channel

have you installed ASIO drivers that came with these interfaces? if yes, have you selected the driver from Ableton options? (Options->Preferences...->Audio.)

hi... thanks for the reply.... i have installed the drivers and selected them in ableton but it seems that the problem remains.. i have been reading about the whole latency thing and wondering if that cud be the reason.. i am unsure of the settings regarding sample rate and all...

What Seidy said plus if you have any other USB devices connected try disconnecting them.
