Need help with this track. Please?

I record with GarageBand on an old Mac G5. I know I should upgrade but I don't have the money right now. I plan on sending this to the guy who mixed and mastered our album so he can work his magic. This is not the kind of music we normally record. We tried to do something different and see if people might dig it. Why not, you know? Anyway, what suggestions do you have for making it sound a little more interesting? Or, what are you hearing that should be added that maybe I am not? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I see this has been viewed a few times but no one is posting. Did I not upload the mp3 correctly? Please give me some constructive criticism.
 
I had a listen, and when you say you've done something different, I dont know what that means. I think one of the pauses are begging for a big break into much more action if you know what I mean? dont get me wrong I like a peaceful song very much, its just you've set it up so perfectly, even if its only the last pause it would be something worth waiting to the end for, I just feel like its coming to a big ending, but its just not quite there.

I meant we tried to do something different from what our sound normally is. As for more action, do you mean during the interlude (farewell to the friends that I have known) ?

I recorded the acoustic guitar in my back room with the French doors open to try to get some atmosphere. There were birds out there but I didn't think they were that loud.

Any other suggestions? Thanks guys.
 
omg dude, just came back to my laptop and Id left the song open on windows media player, so I played it again...and again....and again, and I fucking love it. when I said "dont get me wrong I like a peaceful song," this is so good. Seriously, listening to it again the pauses sound much more bigger and actually work to great effect to make you stop and think about the meaning and the atmosphere. Even though I'm 15 and can't really relate to the lyrics, the song makes me feel like I'm an old man looking back at my past. Truly inspirational :)

Don't know if you are kidding around. I hope not but thanks for the response anyway. I plan on getting this mixed and mastered so it will sound a lot better sonically.
 
okay reading it back it I do see what you mean by it sounds like Im kidding around, i might have gone over the top, but no I was being serious, its really good :) I would be proud with results like that :)

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I will post the finished product once we get it back.
Does anyone else think it needs more work though?
 
Great song!
I would pull down the snare/static percussion a few db. Also, the verb on the vocals sound a tad too high. I feel the ambience your going for, no doubt there. But when I really hear the verb, it almost feels like a smaller space than whats really going on. Personally, if I was going to use it at that level, I would turn up the decay time a little bit.
Other than that, everything sounds very nice!
 
Thanks. Like I said, I am sending it to a professional to mix and master so we'll see what he does with it. Hopefully, he makes it sound even better. I appreciate the comments and if anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear them.
