I have Cakewalk Home Studio 9 (also CubasisVST) and have never been able to use them. Cakewalk was a Xmas present a couple years ago from my wife. Our computer is not right for it and is used for too many other things (games, business, net etc.) I've been looking into a used computer PII 350 w/4G HD. The sound card and the RAM would have to be upgraded. It would cost me $425 Cnd. plus $70 for SB Live and $45 for more RAM. I need a better alternative.
I want to run my software and I think SB Live would be good enough for me at present. If I was to buy components and have a friend help me put it together, what would be the ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST system that would work for me.
I am just a hobby blues player and would like to make some recordings using some midi and a few audio tracks. I don't need a burner because I would probably network it to my other PC that has a burner. I have mics, a mixer, and a midi controller keyboard. I need CHEAP. I can always add to it later (separate HD for OS, upgrade soundcard, add more RAM)
