Need help with Symetrix 528 settings, please.

I just got the Symetrix 528 and started with 'standard' settings.

How can I "tweak" the settings to sound "better" on the radio?

Thanks, Ed Brady

You use the settings you need to use -- If there was a "best" setting, that would be the only setting.

Ed,
Massive is right. There are too many variables (ie. mic, room, acoustic treatment, mic technique, interface...) to make any recommendations. You will need to experiment with your setup and recording environment. I could give you all of my settings that I use on my 528E, but they work for my mic, my room, and my voice.

Here is a worksheet to make notes of your experimentations steps. http://www.symetrix.co/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/528E_sw.pdf

A tutorial: http://www.symetrix.co/support/know...e-all/528e-voice-processor-settings-tutorial/

When I find my golden settings, I have them recorded for replication. However as you know, throw a new variable into the equation, like a different mic, louder delivery, recording environment, or mic placement; then you are back to the "dialing it in" mode.

Have fun with your new Symetrix. I use my 528 often. It was a learning experience that taught me how the 528 works for my voice, and has paid off.

PS. I visited your site and like your sound. I see you have a SM7B in your studio. My 528 is borderline providing enough gain for my 7B. In fact, I use my JoeMeek VC3Q to drive the 7B for my 528. Let me know how your 7B works with the Symetrix.
