I'm picking out equipment for my new studio, and need help on a few things.

I plan to get a Behringer Eurorack mixer and a M-Audio Delta soundcard. I was curious how I would connect the two. I assume I would use RCA cables to connect the mixer to the inputs/outputs on the soundcard? If not, then how would I?

Also, once i get everything connected, how would i go about setting up Cool Edit Pro to read it? Would it read it automatically? And how would i set it up so cool edit records different tracks of the mixer. Say use three different mics to record drums, how would i set it up so it records seperate tracks for the kick drum and the two other mics?

Help is much appreciated. thanks.

welcome

for connection Eurorack main out should take you to M audio( et voila)

what will you be connecting to the beringher ( how many instruments, mics and so forth)

ill be connecting guitar, bass, drums, etc.

but what about the other question i had concerning seperate tracks with cool edit? will 'main-out' send out one track with all the seperate mics combined into one track, or seperate tracks for seperate mics?

also, what would i hook my monitors into..the mixer or the sound card? and what input/output?

thanks

with only two outs on the mixer you are only going to be able to record two tracks simultaneously. You will have to premix the sound before it hits the delta soundcard. The other way is to bypass the mixer altogether and just plug everything into the delta 10/10 then you can record 10 tracks simultaneously. Cool edit should somewhere have a audio preferences panel that allows you to select the sound card you want to use, make sure the delta is selected. I don't know enough about CEP to tell you more. The delta should have a software mixer interface to work with. The only way the mixer is any good is if you are recording to an external multitrack recorder. Download the Delta owners manual from the web site and see what it can do

Your main out will send 2 channels, each of which can be recorded to seperate tracks in your recording software. To record 2 mics to 2 seperate tracks, you would pan channel 1, mic 1 hard left, and pan channel 2 mic 2 hard right, and route these 2 channels to your Main out.

Use the same mechanism for any Aux or Group Outs.

You can hook your monitors either into the sound card or mixer. To use your mixer, hook your souncard outputs to the mixer's 2 track in (2TR In) jacks, then monitor from the Control room outputs or headphones
