Hey everyone,

I have an M-Audio MobilePre, SM57, and acoustic guitar.

MY MAIN GOAL: All I really want to do is record two tracks, one stereo vocal track and one stereo guitar track in Cool Edit.

MY PROBLEM:
The MobilePre has two input lines. So, I plug the guitar in one, and mic in the second. Let's say that I record the guitar as Track 1 and then the Vocals as Track 2 (I'm having a problem doing this simultaneously, but I'll tackle that after I solve this).

However, when I record into Cool Edit, it records each track as a mono track. So, when I play back the two tracks, I get the guitar playing in my left ear and vocal in the right. Is there a way I can make the input of each channel on the MobilePre a stereo input?

Thanks.

Sorry, Nope. Stereo is going to take two inputs, unless you count applying a stereo effect after the fact, which is not the same thing.

I don't pretend to know your software, but you probably want to pan the recorded signals to the center. It sounds like CoolEdit has the panned default hard right and left.

No, you can't turn the two inputs of the Mobile Pre into four inputs.

You will need to make two recording takes (one for your strings, and one for your vocals).
