ok this is my setup.

epiphone gibson special gat w/standard factory pickups > boss mega distortion pedal > alron mosfet bass head > standard 4 speaker cab thing (i cant afford my own yet)

i want to get a generaly ok-ish hardcore sound, any suggestions? its really hard to get a good sound out of it! maybe if i get some kinda pre amp thing... ?

i've already figured that i need to get a noise suppresor pedal from the enormous amounts of feedback i get in the practice room..

any help/advise would be hardout and awesome!

Guitar sound

Are you playing guitar through a bass head? Is it a vacumn tube amp head or solid state? Does the amp have a gain for each channel and a master volume? Or no master volume? Any type of eq on the head?(bass-mid treble?)When using distortion pedals, you want the amp to be super clean and use the pedal for how much distortion effect you want. As far as your feedback, face your speaker towards the wall or work at the sound you want at a lower volume. With a pedal you should be able to get distortion at a lower volume. For a clean amp sound, set your eq flat and work with your gain and master volume for the cleanest tone. Then add your pedal or distortion to your liking. Then use your master volume again for the overall output-more or less volume. Make sure your gain on the pedal doesn't exceed the volume on the head. That is, when you depress the pedal your volume should not change.Getting tone you want takes some messing around with your gear. Remember it's what sounds good to you that matters. Getting a guitar amp would help also. Good luck Pj
