I've been reading up on some of the threads about EQ techniques and been gathering information...but, what I'm looking for is some specific info on my particular problems. First, is the beats...I have one beat with an exetremely boomy bass hit that seems to drown out other sounds in the mix...but by itself sounds great. Any input on some EQ settings to make the bass hit not overpower the mix and drown out (muffle) everything else, but keep it just as boomy? Second, I am in the process of mixing down an album worth of songs...but the the vocals sound too thick. They were recorded with a Shure KSM-32 mic...dry...into a Tascam TM-D1000 mixer...into a Delta 66...and eventually into Cakewalk. I want them to have presence with a some what transparent sound that would rival most of today's rap/pop music. I have Hyperprizm effects and Sonar as well...but haven't really delved into Sonar yet. I'm willing to try anyting at this point. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

A well known mixing law: a sound that sounds great on its own can totaly misfundtion in a mix. So try to EQ it in the mix instead of by itself. I know it's often difficult to EQ a sound you think sounds that great on your own, but you have to.

What to cut depends on the rest of your mix, but often bass can muddy things up in the mid range. Maybe you can give us more details?

I made a short snippet of the beat in question, but it's too big to attach...how should I go about posting it? Never done this before...my bad.
