Howdy, all. I'm putting together a press kit for labels, management, etc. and am wondering -- is it good to compare your band to currently successful acts?
I've heard both sides of this argument. Yes, it's good because it lets the listener place you in a successful market and get a better grasp on you and your sound. And no, you want to present an image of complete originality -- an untapped sound with unlimited potential, that can't be interpreted as a rip-off of someone else.
So what's the final verdict? Let me know your thoughts...
