Actually, it's my girlfriend's mix but she is currently without internet. She has a four track mixer that uses zip disks that she records to and then she transfers it over to her laptop and mixes it in audacity. Nothing too fancy, but she's been doing this for a while and gets pretty good results. The problem, which has never happened to her before, is that certain tracks sound fine when you listen to them on the computer but static shows up when they are burnt to cd. We've tried burning the tracks from different computers but it's still there so we think it's something in the file. It's odd though, because I swear you can't hear the static if you play it on the pc. I'd be very appreciative if anyone has any thoughts or ideas.

Here's a link where you can download the .wav file:

Thank you for any help/input you might have to offer.

How many times has she re-used the zip disks? It could be a problem there. Or it could be the cd burner. Without the idividual files to try mixing myself, I can't say for certain what is wrong.

Maybe someone has come across this before and can help out.

Plays fine here.

Have you tried burning it to a disk? I hate to ask people to waste a cd-r, but that's where the trouble starts. We've tried different cd-r's, different computers, but static shows up in the burn. We figured it must be something in the file since it shows up regardless of computer but we can't figure it out. If anyone opens it up in a recording program and sees something odd or off, please reply as we're currently clueless. Thanks for the replies so far.

That happened to me with a software for ripping the audio off of DVDs. Sounded great when played on the computer, but burning to a disc had all sorts of noise. I didn't buy the software after the trial period.
