It's a long shot, but does anyone know of someone who might be interested in helping me set up my home studio in Horseshoe Bay, Texas? I would be happy to pay an experienced person to come from, say, Austin (50 miles away) or San Antonio (70 miles away).
It's a small setup, all pieces and software about 6 years old, with Emagic Logic Platinum, two Kurzweil 1200 synths (including the keyboard) a couple more synths, sampler, mixer, etc., on a Mac G4 platform. Do not confuse the above with any real knowledge on my part. It's best to consider me a MIDI newbie.
Before getting all the above, I did fairly well with an old Ensoniq on an Atari ST platform -- much simpler. Then about 7 years ago, we built a house and decided to put in a real (if small) studio. It quickly got 'way more complicated than I could handle (the old story of more equipment than skill). I've never really been able to get it all to work together, in spite of bugging a very talented friend at UT (University of Texas, for those in foreign countries like Vermont) and trying hard to understand an online LOGIC tutorial.
We just moved to a new house and I have vowed to try again. I really need someone who can make the software talk to the hardware, encourage the hardware to talk to the speakers & recorder, cajole the software into talking to the printer, and show me how to make friends with them all. Right now, it's just a full rack sitting on the floor next to the keyboard & G4, with lots of pretty colored (largely disconnected) wires coming out the back. The only alternative it to start from scratch with a very simple and inexpensive program that I might be able to learn at my advanced age.
Many thanks,
Bill Reid
