Need help on where to place a compressor in the chain

I have Q10 sound card. Q10 has built-in mic pres. I'm considering about ordering RNC compressor. My understanding is: Micpre -> Compressor ->PC. So, do I have to use Q10's insert or what would my configuration be?
I would be using RNC mainly for tracking vocals.

Yup, Insert is the most common way for compressors (or eq's)
