hi! i just bought a behringers podcast studio. Its a whole package that comes with the mic, mixer, firewire interface, headphones and that kind of stuff. But i need help on choosing the right software for the recording (or do you call this software as audio engine?). In the package itself, it comes with some software such as kristal audio engine. is that good enough? can you guys recommend me some nice software which is user-friendly for newbie like i am? thank you so much!

Some information about what you're actually trying to record would be a good start.

I'm going to assume that something called a "podcast studio" will be fairly basic and may not be the pig's guts for audio, but perhaps you just want to do podcasts?

More info. And budget.

Podcasting is probably the most likely given the set up.
I'm assuming that given the cost of the Behringer package, that you're trying to keep the cost down?
I'd give Reaper a try, it's got a really long evaluation period too so you have plenty of time to decide whether or not it fits your requirements, and it's very cheap too. Some info here on it, Multitrack Equipment – Recording Software | Cobalt Audio and there's alternatives there too with links to all the various manufacturer websites.

Without knowing exactly what you want to do it's hard to be specific but I know a number of podcasters who just use freeware Audacity. They don't need fancy multitracking and mixing, just an ability to edit their 'casts together and play a bit with levels and compression.

Audacity download HERE.
