Sounblaster Live!
line in, mic in......

This is my setup....My problem is....

1) ex. I line my Mic into my preamp, and then my pream into the line in on my coundcard. I check decible levels and everything is fine. When I play back what I recorded, it sounds really low and distorted at times. It is very low yet distorted??? I tried alot of things.....some help would be greatly appreiated

What mic/preamp are you using? You might want to consider a decent recording soundcard. the fastest machine in the west will sound like crinkley crap with a gamer card.

Well.....I thing a soundblaster audigy would be a good choice......the mic and pre amp are made by optimus........it is only 100 dollars (can)

But I get the same prob when I line in my guitar..........damn

but why doesn't the soundcarf that I have, work eficiently?

May want to check the settings on the windows mixer enviroment.
Also, if you got the money for an Audigy, I would recommend an m-audio audiophile 24/96 card instead.

Be sure you are using the Line in instead of the mic in. Open the windows sound mixer and check the recording properties, I run the line in and the master just below the max. Turn "what you hear" off in the windows mixer.

another reason why any software or soundcard with the words " pro " on the box should have a REAL WORLD useable way of auto input monitoring ( and not BS THRU the CPU, HD, and state of kansas type either, well actually this could be IN ADDITION and called " confidence monitoring" )

I really wish I knew where the heads were at when they set the paradigm for computer recording!
