Appreciate any insight to my problem of not being able to import or copy a midi song from an online midi song source into a Sonar 2 project. I am trying to take any song in an online midi file and import it into a a new project so I would hopefully end up with the same track data in a Sonar project that exist in the import midi file. I tried doing the new project, file import audio thing and when I click on the midi file that is now on my hardrive, I cannot find a file by same name stored as a midi but rather as a midi sequence file? The end result is my "hour clock" icon comes up and just idles endlessly. I have XP and when I use my task manager to attempt to freee it up i get a windows response that the program is waiting for an imput from me, yet I dont see any prompts anywhere. Does this problem seem at all familiar to anyone please?

I don't think that you can import a MIDI file. Certainly not from the Import Audio command. It really should just barf and tell you it's an invalid format instead of just chugging away like it's trying to do something. Sloppy programming...

You can open a MIDI file it and then save it as a Cakewalk project.

From what you said it sounds like you don't understand what MIDI is. There is no audio data of any kind in a MIDI file, merely information that tells a MIDI compliant instrument what notes to play when, how loud, etc.
