I'm using Cool Edit 1.2 and am somewhat new to this. I'm recording each piece of my song in segments. Chorus 1 guitar, then chorus 1 vocals. Then verse 1 guitar, verse 1 vocals and so on. I'm having a little problem getting the chorus and verses to match up seemlessly like they are all recorded together. Any ideas on this? The bigger problem I'm having is that when I want to use the chorus vocals and guitar again after say verse 2 i have to insert both of them again seperate and then try to get them lined up so that it sounds right and the same as the first time. I can't figure out away to insert or paste in them as a group??? Any help would really be apprciated.

i think after you have recorded your quitar you should record your vocals.. and then do the same with the chorus on the quitar.. its hard to line up vocals so that they sound in sinc with the tones of a instrument because one second can effect the whole tone..

if you want to use the same instruments at a earlier segment of your track recording further down your track.. what you do is highligh the amount of quitar you want to use.. and then hold down shift and right click simultaneously.. cool edit will then make a copy of the highlighted selection

also if you want to use the same chorus vocals with the quitar that you used in a previous chorus as a group what you could do is make a mix down of the chorus vocals and quitar by themselves and then save it.. and then when you want to use it for the second chorus just open the waveform and insert them after the verse.. so the chorus sounds the same as the first time

If I understand you rightly, you're recording the chorus guitar like once, and then cloning that segment and trying to line it up correctly in the other parts of the song where the chorus guitar is need again. Is that right? If so, then you're just gonna hafta use your ears, and use the zoom function to drag the clip left or right until it's in the position where it sounds right. When you get everything where you want it, use Edit>Select all Waves>Lock in Time to make sure everything stays put.

Thanks for all the help!!

This will save me loads of time and may even prevent a premature heart attack!
