I couldn't exactly find the correct place to post this, I saw the Audition section but it seemed to be dead. Last post was months old.

Either way, I use Adobe Audition, with an AKG C214 microphone that I have connected to my USB audio interface.

My question/issue:
I have a song in the works that I am running into problems with, everytime I hit play, the sound gets REAL choppy when I move the mouse over the tracks, or use the scroll up/down feature, and when I really move the mouse around pretty fast it stops playing all together. I see the levels are still showing but no audio output whatsoever..

On my other sessions this isn't happening, only on this one. I can move the mouse over other areas of my DAW and it works perfect, but as soon as I move the cursor over the actual multitracks it starts interrupting the playback..

And NOW, for some odd reason it won't play at all! I hit play and i hear a clip and then it just goes silent, again the levels are still showing, so it *is* playing but I hear NOTHING!

WHAT IS GOING ON????

Thanks in advance, this is really causing me to lose sleep now :(

I moved this to the Newbs section where it will get more notice.

Whenever you get pops and glitches, it means your computer isn't keeping up with the task at hand. If other sessions/songs/projects are working, find out what is different with this one. A different plug? 32bit vs 64bit compatibility issues?? Other programs running in the background? Interface driver? Settings?

A whole slew of things can be causing you grief. Start with what is different with this one and what has changed.

Funny that is happening only in one song. Most probably it is something related to a plugin (VST, DX or other).

Did you try to start a fresh project and reimport the tracks one by one to the new project to see if the problem remains? I had problems in the past with applications that deals with complicated projects (not DAW) that may randomly corrupt the file internally in a way that nothing you do will fix it unless by starting a brand new project.

If this is not the case at least it may help you to determine exactly where the issue is happening.

Good luck!

:)

I appreciate YanKleber and Chilli for the quick replies! I figured it out (thank god) , now I can finally rest easy.

My problem:
I had a pretty big project going, using A LOT of multitracks, and I had all the effects on the effects rack for each track, not applied yet, but there.
I think my computer's RAM started to take a hit when I had too many going. I applied a few tracks, then took the effects off the effects rack, and slowly but surely my problem started to go away.

So let that be a tip for any other noobs who run into this same issue, start applying a few of the effects and clear the effects racks! lol

Thanks again guys, maybe an admin/mod can put *FIXED* in the title or something :)

Glad to know that you are good, dude!

:)

Anyway, this is a warning to not abuse of our computers no matter how powerful it looks like!

;)
