Im a noob to the whole keyboard synthesizer and midi thing lol But don't get me wrong I do have a some knowledge on how there different. I have done research online but theres a few things that are still confusing me and i need help from you experts. Any help is appreciated :) Basically i want to create my own beats, music, and remix songs. Mostly electro,Techno,Dance, and club beats. Im a starting Dj and really need help on what tools and equipment i need, to be able to do that. I'm looking forward to getting one of these two keyboards, just not sure which one is the best to get me started in the right Direction The first one is an midi keyboard Novation 49SL MKII from and the second one is also from Novation UltraNova Synthesizer. Maybe other keyboard suggestions will help as well. I'm looking to do something like this .youtube.com/watch?v=mNhiA5Vp_uE (note put www)please take your time to watch it so you can basically get an idea what i want to do. I know it takes time to get good i just want to be pointed in the right direction. Thank's.

Do you have sequencing software that you are going to tie into? I am not sure if either of these boards have any sequencing capabilities. I use a Korg Triton and a M06 which both have their own sequencers built in to the board. I can create the majority of my tracks on the board itself and then add other instruments via a multitrack software recorder. It looks like those guys are using a serious piece of gear. I think that is a Open Labs Workstation/Computer. I don't wanna know because its out of my price range.

If you are looking to do some live stuff, thats another consideration. Essentially you need the minimum of a synth, sequencer and some type of software that can handle vocal stuff. You will also need something to interface the synth with the computer software. This may be obsolete with a lot of boards having USB options.

By the way I am not an expert. On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being expert, I'm probably a 2.5. But I have been recording for years in many different configurations and I have found i prefer a physical board with seqeuncer and mulitracks for the real instruments (that may have to do with the fact that I spend 90% of my day on computers.).
