I am looking for a good program for voice over in animation. What I'd like is one where I can do the vioce over myself but morph my voice into a child's or man or women or dragon or elf of whatever. You get the picture. And I'd like this program for under $100 U.S. Is there a program out there? I've heard that cooledit would do all this but its a bit pricey. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kim Webster

There arent too many programs that will do heavy duty manipulation for under $100 but maybe somebody knows of one. Keep in mind that even the good programs will only allow you to alter your voice so much before it sounds obviously messed with.

Download some different demos. Good programs are:

CoolEditPro (version 2 supports .avi films also)
SoundForge
Acid

There are many others but those are some of the most popular for hardcore sound manipulation.

Haven't heard of any program that will take your voice and "turn it" into a man, woman, elf etc. There are tons of plugins and effects out there that will alter the timbre of your voice into something else, but it will still be you.

Under 100 bucks? Don't think so. Some really good plugins that will provide these effects could cost anywhere between 100-400.00 bucks

I would definitely start with a good 2 track stereo editor (WaveLab, Soundforge, even CoolEdit - Version 2.0 looks kinda well - cool!) and move from there.
