Need good micpreamp/mixer but on budget

Im on a tight budget need a good micpreamp/mixer for umm under $200 maybe a little lower. Was going to get a Eurorack but browsed the board and heard bad about it any other sugguestions. Im doing Rap/R&B music.

look around- shop- look for better- alot of people around here say the Art is crap- some love it- i had one (not the same as listed) and it was ok-

Thats kinda cheapie. You can get one for as little as $50

Allen & Heath and Mackie are great mixers.
Aside from Behringer there are many. Yamaha, Alesis, Art, Spirit, Edirol, Midiman, Nady. I've had a Tascam for years without a single problem, But I dont think they make em anymore.

Lot of folks here knock the behringer gear, but its my understanding they have improved. It doesn't appear to be a bad product but I cant vouche for it cause I've never used behringer gear before.

I have the UB2442FX Pro.

Behringer line of mixers has improved quit a bit.

I'm not telling you to get one but you should go to a local store and "just listen" for yourself. Don't let the inexpensive price fool you!

I wanted the best that I could get on a budget that could not afford a Mackie.

The added FX feature is incredible.

Check out the posts above...you can get the Mackie DFX6 for $189 at MusiciansFriend (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...39083697165/search/g=rec/detail/base_id/59448). I hear the pre-amps on all the Behringer mixers (which the company itself says are the same on all of its models, cheap or expensive) are a bit noisy, and that Mackies have superior pre's.

I think I'm going to get a DFX6 soon, to go with the Fostex MR-8 I just purchased from MusiciansFriend for $240 (a "blemished" model)!

I was interested in the Mackie DFX6 also. It looks like it will do all the stuff I want it to. Doesn't say anything about home recording in the brochure though. Was kinda waiting for a review or somone to critique it. Looks like a decent cheapie for ~$200. There's several other places on the net where you can get it for $190-200. ZZounds.com has it in stock for $189.99 free ground shipping. MF charges ~$15 to ship unless you buy more thna $300. Here's the ZZounds link:

Probably just unbablanced line level inputs. Must skip the mic pre? You could hook line level stuff up like drum machines or keyboards. Looks kinda nifty too. I'm still thinking I'd like to have inserts just in case I wanna use my 11 year old Alesis 3630 for some reason....

If you're gonna spend the $169 or whatever for the Folio, why not shell out $20 more and get the superior Mackie?! You get those nice long 60mm faders on every channel, two assignable LED level meter strips, and a built-in 24bit DSP with high-quality Mackie effects to use for mastering, like reverb, etc., not to mention a stereo 5-band EQ for making your final mix and those amazing Mackie microphone pre-amps!!! It's a ridiculously versatile piece of equipment. I don't see how the Folio comes even close, especially considering the closeness in price. I would also go for the Mackie over the folio anyday.
Plus if you ever decide to upgrade or sell it, its resale value will be much better.
