Need assistance with getting a vocal effect

Hi all

Was hoping I could get some assistance with an effect I am trying to get on some vocals. I want it to sound like the vocal is speaking through a mask (like a gas mask or similar). I am using Acid Pro 7 and I have Waves 5, so I have plenty of effects . I am just not sure how to get this right, without it sounding "muddy."

Any suggestions?

Yeah, then distort it and add some reverb.

That would just make too much sense.

Or just cup one or both hands over your mouth and nose. You can easily adjust how much to muffle the sound and your nostrils for that slightly nasal mask sound.
