Need answers to basic questions

I am trying to record me playing guitar. I am using Adobe Audition with a lightsnake usb cord. I downloaded ASIO4All. I have no clue what to do next. How do I get Adobe Audition to recognize either ASIO4All or my usb cord? How do I configure anything? I just need help with this whole mess, I have been working on it all night.

Is your computer recognizing the lightsnake? Also, is there a "Preferences or Options" in Adobe Audition? I would check that and see if it shows up.

Which version of Audition? I don't think versions prior to 3.0 (or maybe it's 2.0) support ASIO at all.

If it does, you need to go to the Options/Options -> Devices and set everything up.

I don't even know what a lightsnake is...so I can't say anything about that.

Try recording with Audacity or perhaps even reaper...also you can try mixcraft free trial just to see if you can get it to work.

I wasnt sure what a lightsnake was either however Im guessing its something similar to this.
