think I *may* have found the answer to the CMC3>CMC5 conversion question. It seems this was a pretty common mod back in the day. I got a schematic that covers both mics, and it looks (to my rather untrained eye) that the difference is just a bridge (shunt?) across a resistor (R8 with a value of 6.8 kohms). If I'm reading it right, I can probably just clip the bridge and have a CMC5 in minutes. Any corroborating or contradictory information would be much appreciated though!
