Forum,

I have an opportunity to record a small salsa band in a few weeks. I have never recorded a salsa band, but i have been reading many post and articles on how to mic each instrument etc...
I thought I would ask the advise of people more experienced. Here is the instrumentation.

Female Vocal.
Keyboard
Ampeg upright baby bass
Congas
Timbales
Bongos/Cowbell
Trumpet

Here is what I have to work with. Please note that I don't have the resources to rent or "borrow" high end gear.
This is what I have to work with.

Mic Pre's/ Di's

  1. -Grace Designs m101
    -Avalon U5 di box
    -Presonus Studio Channel Tube Pre
-4 channels of Presonus "baby blue" mic pre's
-8 channels of focusrite octopre mk2 dymanic

Going into a focusrite Saffire Pro 40 interface.

    Mic's
    - (2) sm57s
    - (2) Sennheiser 421's
    - (2) Rode NT1a's (one is a mike jolly mod)
    - (2) Samson Co2 SDC's
    - Ev Re320
    - Sennheiser E 602 ii
    - MXL v67 mogomi edition
    - Audio Technica At2020
    - Nady RSM 4
    - Nady RSM 5
    - (2)MXL 991
    - (2) mxl 990's

What would be a good mic choice (using what I have available) for each instrument.
What mic should I put in which pre amp?
Please note, I do have the liberty of of tracking separately and I do have isolation available.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
