I need your help...FAST!!! (They say "...timing is everything!") I just landed a project where I need to write the score for a TV documentary. Naturally, the documentary will be sent to me on VHS (NTSC) and I will need to sync to it. I am running Logic 5.5.0 on a MAC. I want to be able to play the video on a TV screen while syncing/recording my music to it (I don't want to use the computer monitor for viewing the film). I have tons of equipment/experience for writing/recording jingles, music beds, production libraries, etc., but not much for syncing to video. QUESTION: What do I need to get in order to sync and record to video? DAZZLE HOLLYWOOD DV BRIDGE MAC FIREWIRE or what??? I need something that I can use SMPTE, Logic 5.5.0, and can easily locate any and all cues. I'm running a G4 MAC 867 MHz, VMC-7200 digital mixer, EXS-24, etc. I need to send back to the client a VHS copy with my music track + video synced (plus a DVD or CD of music only--this I can handle). I am open to your advise and suggestions! Thanks!!!

...I don't use MAC, but some says Quick Time has what you need. Better check their site for sure. Wish Roel is around. I heard he had been in the same situation then. BTW, why did you post it here ? It belongs to... uummhh... Computer Recording & Soundcard forum may be...

We did a soundtrack thingy a while ago...

The way we worked was: we had the movie converted to quicktime, and imported that in protools on the mac, so we could sync it up. Then we bounced the final music to a stereo track, and burned a CD with it. To sync it up with the movie, all they need to know is that the track starts together with the first frame. Since CD is a digital medium, no further syncing is necessary.

I think logic will allow this kindof syncing to. So if you can get the movie in a digital format, you're set. (A low resolution version of the movie will do, otherwise your mac will loose to much of it's processingpowert on the movie)
Hope this helps...

Great advice, folks! (And these suggestions do not sound too complicated, either. Life is grand!) I shall give everything a try. Thank you, one and all!!!!

One last question, though...just for kicks...I have the AMT-8 midi box with Logic 5.5, and I believe it can write SMPTE to tape...but how do I do that??? Thanks!! (Tried stuffing a VHS tape into the computer drive. Whoa, what a mess!)
