I am considering these 3: PSP easyverb, Sonic Timeworks 4080L, and the Sonitus (Ultrafunk), now available from Cakewalk. I have heard demos of the 4080L and easyverb. The easyverb sounds nearly as good as the 4080L, but is a cpu hog. But it's also half the price. The Sonitus, unfortunately, does not have a demo available. It is less costly than the other two. But for those of you who have used it, is it in the same league with the psp and Timeworks? It seems to have a lot of nice features. Any words of wisdom?

is that sonitus plug the same one that comes with sonar producer edition? if it is then i have used it quite a lot. I don't know much about other reverb plugins but i use the sonitus reverb and compressor the most by far. Its easy to use and sounds really good (to me at least). I have the pantheon reverb as well and i think the sonitus one beats the pants off it. entirely my own opinion though.

I have used all 3. Personally I would go for the Timeworks, then the Sonitus, than the PSP. However, if the Sonitus comes with all the other plugs too, that would sway my decision.

Have you looked into convolution reverbs? In my opinion they absolutely kill all the others. They can be CPU hogs though.

Yes, it is the same one that comes with Sonar. If it compares that favorably with the Pantheon, then that sounds very respectable. What I'm trying to stay away from is those cheap, metalic artifacts that seem to plague a lot of the reverb plug-ins. I want something that can sound warm. I know, warm is an overused term. How 'bout let's say the opposite of cheap and metalic? Does the Sonitus fit that criteria?

Xstatic,

I thought the Timeworks edged out the PSP. But not by a lot. The entire Sonitus package can be purchased from Cakewalk for $299. But I'm only interested in reverb at this point. The Sonitus reverb stand alone is $49. If it's somewhere between the Timeworks and PSP, that may be a real bargain.

like i said, i'm definately no pro at applying reverb but i found the sonitus sounded more natural and the pantheon sounded like digital crap. it you are in to tweaking a bazilion knobs to get your sounds then i may be of no help but... from what i can say, the sonitus has served me well.

Minofifa,

Not into tweaking a Bazilion knobs. Just like to turn things on and have them sound good. A lot of times "less is more". The Sonitus has more than enough parameters to tweak for me. I was more curious about it's basic sound. Natural is good. In fact, very desireable. If I get the Sonitus I'll report back here with my impressions. Thanks for the input.

I highly recommend you look into convolution reverbs. I believe that the SIR reverb is a free host for convolutions. If you find some good convolutions (there are tons of good free ones out there) than in my opinion that will smoke all the others. Even the TC Powercore and the UAD ones:D

Yup!!! Sonitus blows the Pantheon right out of the water!!! I've used a TON of different reverbs over the years, and for my money, the Sonitus Reverb is hands down the best. Has a nice warm body, and silky-smooth tail. I agree with xstatic though, you should check out the convolution reverbs.

Somewhere I remember seeing a whole site dedicated to free impulses. Not sure where though:(

Does anyone actually use Pantheon? I have it and tried it, and was not impressed.....

from what i have heard, the pantheon is supposed to be a pretty decent plug, the thing is that it is way to complex to set up if you won't know what to set the many perameters to. It doesn't make sense for me to try to figure it out when the sonitus one sounds just fine for me.

Hmmm, ok, I did play with it a bit, and gave up. Maybe I need to spend some more time tweaking it.

Thanks.

OK, glad to oblige......

Dont forget that you can also just rechamber!

:D

Thanks for all the replies. I went with the Timeworks. After running it through it's paces the last few days, I am liking it. Nice and smooth. And very easy to use.

The convolution reverbs were just a little too convoluted for me. I wanted something native and easy. Plus I couldn't deal with the CPU hit. The Timeworks is easy on the CPU, and that was the deciding factor between it and the PSP. Too bad Cakewalk doesn't put demos up for the Sonitus stuff. I was interested in it, but didn't want to buy something without hearing it first.
