Hi guys, super n00b here.

So I'm in th market for a pair of nearfield monitors, and whole I have some ideas, I don't really know how they compare, or even if there are other choices that I don't know of.

My budget is about $900.

I've thought about the Adam A7s, but they are a bit too expensive. I've also seen the Mackie HR824.

I know the KRKs are in my price range, but how do they compare to the other two?

Maybe the Samson Rubicon would be an option.

Any info you guys could give me would be awesome!

thanks!

This may seem a bit out there but tascam is having a big factory restock deal starting friday. 229 for VLA5 and 279 for VLA8. If you're fully commited to your budget then go ahed and get something more expensive, you'll probably get something noticably better, but, 279 is absolut robbery for the 8s. They are fantastic and very easy to learn. Being large, 8inch drivers, they give you good bass response and honestly give you all you need to hear. They were very good value to begin with but this is just obscene.

I've been using Yamaha NS-10M's for 25 years, to me they are the standard, not that they sound so great, but they evolved into that spot.

They are in a lot of studios, and I've seen them on the board of Bernie Grundman and in most major studios.

I can't say that for the other brands.

Great suggestions!! Thanks.

If I can spend less than $900 on the monitors (without comromising too much on sound quality) I'd definitely do it. I could buy other gear with the rest of the money.

I'm going out today to do some listening, and I'll ask about those.

and thanks for the heads up on the tascam sale!!

You have to get those used nowdays...they dont make those anymore...I use a pair too...this place is divided on these but they do what they are supposed to do...and they are better preparation for working in a commercial studio...because you are allready using the monitors you will have to learn.
