I'm looking for a good make to replace the heads on my session pro. I'm thinking Evans G2 toms with a remo snare, but IDK about the kick. My style is metal/rock. Is this a good combination? Any tips? Thanks.

There are quite a few threads on this topic you can search through at bottom of this page. I use Remo pinstripes on toms and Powerstoke on snare for metal. Moon gel for a bit of dampening if needed. Proper tuning is a complete must to get anything to sound good.

I'm a fan of Evans heads (although I used Remo for a lot of years before changing to Evans). I think you would be very satisfied with G2s on your toms (although Remo Pinstripes would also be a logical choice)

For the snare - I persoanlly prefer a coated single ply (such as the Remo Ambassador) - however, I've been using the Evans vented heads on my snares for the last several years and would never go back to an Ambassador unless I simply could not find the Evans.

For the kick - I would suggest you at least consider the Evans Emad heads. They've worked well for me - I am also a fan of Aquarian heads for the kick - by the Aquarian distribution limits how often you can find them in stores.

I use Remo Ambassador on the snare, and Evans EC2 batter/ G2 resonant. I play rock and love this combo.

Evans, Remo and Aquarian are all good choices, but pay attention to how hard you hit, and how you like the drum to respond.
Fuller sounds are generally had by thinner heads, but they require more maintenance with tuning, and regular replacing. They are also a nightmare for people who dont know how to tune or arent confident with it.

Coated for a slightly warmer sound, clear for attack/snap.

As far as bass heads, (and considering you play metal) I would say a Clear Emad or Emad 2 (if you want a little bit darker, less attack, not as resonate, ect.).

You probably already know it, but please, please use a falam slam patch (the best there is) or a Evans EQ Bass Drum Patch. It will make you head last FOREVER......

There are many advice for drum heads like first of all select basic drum heads , drum heads for certain musical styles, snare drum, discussion of various drum tuning and so on.
