I have a VS 1880 Recorder without the effects board and internal CD burner. I have a scsi cable that allows me to connect my Recorder to the burner but when I try to record it displays a "No CD burner"... Is it possible to make a Sony external burner work with a Roland recorder ? what about if I connect the roland to a computer and then try to burn CD's that way will that work? I just don't have the $$$ to purchase a roland burner at this time and I need to record demo's NOW! please advise me.. starofsong@hotmail.com

I haven't heard of Roland products working with anything but Plextor and Roland burners. You could transfer the tracks to a program in your computer, then convert to wav and burn cds from there.I use Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 and it works well but there are plenty of programs to choose from.

I got the 840GX and I burn cds all the time...I use a stand alone burner....use a digital/optical cable digital out track machine, digital In cd burner.......then you can use rcas from the burner to your reciever....or just listen to it in the headphones..........

This may sound simple and stupid but.............
Before you start the Roland the CDR MUST BE STARTED before hand. When the Roland OS boots up it searches/scans all drives on the initial check. If you turn the cdr on after the Roland the Cdr will not be recognized. This happens with the Plextor so it might just be your problem also. Hope this helps. Bleed
