G geekd New member May 31, 2011 #2 I really like the sound of the Oktava MK-012-01. Many small condensers sound really bright. The Oktava sounds accurate. It doesn't color the sound. Oktava MK-012-01 MSP2 Factory Matched Stereo Pair Microphones in Wood Case (Silver) (don't know the selling site, it was just the first result in google). Matched pair runs about $575. (after previewing my post, the name of the mic got linked automatically to user reviews on this site. It seems I'm not the only one that likes them

Bobbsy Boring Old Git Jun 2, 2011 #4 Let me put in a vote for the SE Electronics SE1A, also available in matched pairs. It's a lovely little mic that I often use alongside rather more expensive ones like my old AKG451s and the modern upstart keeps up very credibly. Bob
