Fellas,
I'm re-doing my setup and I need some advice,I plan on coppin these in the very near future:

1)mpc1000(will be here Thursday...my first mpc of any kind..ever...do you believe it?)

2)tables and dj mixer...any suggestions(not really for scratching...I 'm not a dj,just to sample from vinyl)

3)monitors..Alesis Mk2 or Event tr5 I hear are good..I blew my shitty Samson Resolves

4)mixer..do I really need one though?

5)keyboard or maybe a module and controller

6)digital multitrack..lookin at Korg d1200 or Fostex VF160

I already have mics...sm57,sm58,Studio Project B1

I just need advice on what models to get,I got a Boss sp303 and 505,4 track digital multitrack,2 drum machines that I'm trading in so what do you guys have to say?.....Lazi what's up,where ya at playboy?

What up PGM... Just laying low is all but i'm still bouncing...

On the DAW tip... If it's gonna be hardware... You might as well save up and get a 16+ track that'll do wave import and export or else you'll come up short. That's about the only thing that pisses me off about my 1680... No easy way to dump digital to another DAW or computer. Wish I could just burn wave files to cd-r or even dump via a USB or something. I'd probably be doing way more work with other cats ya dig?

MPC's are dope and you'll love it once you get the hang of it...

Monitors and mixers are kinda up in the air... You might can use the DAW as a mixer but with all the shit you talking about you'd probabaly want to cop something with at least 12 channels just to keep you organized.

My only thoughts on monitors is 6 1/2" inch or better with the woofers. I personally didn't like my EVENT PS8's cause they had too much high end.

I've been trying to find a controller myself and they all seem to be about the same when it comes to features. Kinda gotta pick one and be happy I guess.

If you looking to trade ROUGEMUSIC.COM might have something you can pic up with a trade out. EBAY really will give you more loot to work with though. I'm about to put my RODE NT1 and DR.660 up so I can cop a new something or something.

I'm holla back in a bit though...

good lookin fellas,

I'm back on the grind trynna get my research done on the pieces I want.So far I'm thinkin bout coppin these for my setup:

1.DAW-Fostex Vf160 cdr OR Korg D1600

2.MONITORS-M-Audio studiophile bx8's OR Samson Resolv 80a's OR some Behringer truths(had the resolv 65a's they were shitty but I heard through the grapefine the 80a's are better)

3.MODULE-emu mo' phatt OR a roland module joint.I heard some of the motif rack shit and it was hot ...or maybe the triton rack..............damn so many options ...so little loot:p

gotta do some more research I guess

good going on the D1600

try to get more opinions on the resolv i was stirred away from them all

the mo phatt is a dope piece of equipment. the bass samples are nice. The korg d1600 is a fairly straightforward digital recorder. I used to own a Yamaha aw4416 (it was hell to learn, too many buttons for me). The Triton is always a classic choice, but doesn't everyone have one by now? Even if they do, its a solid module with sweet fx. Good luck on the MPC let me know how it turns out working for you. I like the usb connector for transferring files to/from a computer. With something like soundforge, you can edit your sounds and have a custom kit in no time. I own a MPC 2000XL and I just picked up a 60 yesterday. The Roland/Boss SP505 is straight, but I'm not into a million buttons and knobs on my units. Good Luck in your hunt.
