I need something that will give me a detailed enough audio image to do some basic basic mixing...yes i know you shouldnt mix with headphones but i cant afford monitors right now....so point me in the direction of an inexpensive pair that sounds good and is durable...i appreciate any and all input

Grado has a set for under $100... Can't remember the model number.

Dollar-for-dollar, I honestly don't know of a better brand of headphones for fidelity.

[EDIT] Grado SR-80's - I've seen them for $95.

Make sure to mix in mono. If you mix in stereo you may not hear phase cancellations and such. Once you mono mix sounds good, dial in your pan settings and you will be in business!

I have no experience mixing in mono...i have always panned one guitar left...one right...bass center...and the drums are panned based on their position on the kit...i for some reason cant get my mixes to sound good in mono...any secrets to doing it?...i probably sound stupid asking this but again...im an audio noob
