(Natural) disasters ever taken anything from you?

I'm in Mississipi. You may have heard about the river rising and flooding and such. Now, a statement was released that says there won't be flooding, but still... I'm not an apocalypse monger, but I can't help but be a little concerned :p.

I'll obviously be upset for a number of reasons were the city to flood- house, and other massively important things. But man, if this shit gets raped with water I'll have to leave my stuff (everything but my favorite guitar). So my other dozen or so guitars, and other equipment will be killed.

Including a graduation gift: A Mapex kit that I haven't even been able to unbox yet :(

Anyone ever been unfortunate enough to have your gear killed?
 
Katrina took all my stuff every last bit, If you can not take things with you put them in large contractor bags and tie them shut did this in North carolina and saved photo albums and gear.

Yeah, get it outta there!!!

I lost 2 guitars, my high end stereo, all my sports trophys, birth cert., photos, and my record collection, which would be worth a small fortune now, to fire in 1975, it's a bitch!

River supposed to crest Monday, at 65 feet. So far they say greenville will not flood. Sand boils popping up everywhere and there is seepage, but they say it is under control.
Hopefully it is.
In hoping for the best and preparing for the worst there seems to not be room to move everything to a safe place. Bagging things might help though.
 
Second floor may help but you remember what happened in Nashville!

Yeah we get natural disasters, you guys get inbreeding and bad teeth. We're both fucked.
 
I think we have been pretty lucky considering the tsunamis and earthquakes recently.

My Anarchist Cookbook caught on fire once, but I was able to save it... I think other than that I have been pretty safe.
