anyone familiar with the "kompakt" software sampler have any comments about it? (not to be confused with "kontakt")

i read on the product purchase page at sweetwater that it ships with 3gb of samples but on the native instruments home page it says only 2gb are inluded. anyone know which is correct?

also, does anyone know if this is a stand-alone application. and if it isn't, what kind of program will i be needing aside from kompakt?

It's a trimmed down version of Kontakt that comes with 2GB of samples.
It's release has been pushed back a few times.
It's supposed to import several sample types, but with varying results according to people on another forum that I frequent.
I originally wanted to get it to use in Sonar as it is DXI compatible.I have Giga sampler which sounds are heavenly but whose interface blows and does'nt play well with others.(or itself for that matter)
I have the stock synths that come with Sonar(yawn)but I am unimpressed.I really want one good sounding synth that's easy to use and I don't give a rats ass about any fancy GUI.
This was backordered so long I finally gave up on it.
I may change my mind once the bad taste leaves my mouth.
