I've been test driving a number of acoustic combos, been on the search for some time...They virtually all sound good, with some difference in initial tone reproduction at "flat" settings. My upward limit is around $500, and I've got it down to two units to choose between;

The Roland AC60, @ $479, seems pretty versatile to me. Good tone, handles notch filtering fairly well (my Seagull has a pronounced "boom" at 160 Hz), lots of headroom even for 60 watts...I've also read lots and lots of nothing but positive user reviews...And Roland, though I've never owned any of their gear, has a dammed solid history...

The Genz Benz Shenendoah 60, @ $500, is sweet as well, with some pretty nice effect logarithms (Alesis on board). This unit seemed to automatically cut the 160 Hz out of the mix, as I didn't have to touch any knobs but for volume...The wedge/stand-up cut of the cab turned me on, as did the channel strip layout...But I haven't found even one user comment anywhere...Maybe I'm not looking hard enough or the unit hasn't been through the trenches for long...

I liked the Fender Acoustasonic, but they wanted way too much $$ for the trademark.

Any Genz Benz guys out there who want to share their thoughts on that Shenendoah before I make up my mind? I'd appreciate the input.

Ah, that Fishman...Yeah, I'd love to have it but haven't had any salesmen talked into diving to 5 bones for it...It seems that little extra commision is everything to them.

I have a wife who, though being understanding and supportive in my efforts, has given me a GENEROUS $500 limit on my amp purchase...

It was suggested to me by my pal the music store manager in CO Springs, that I buy the AC60 and a Fishman Platinum...Which to me seems redundant, but it defeats Mama's limit, as the pre isn't an "amp"...:eek:
